BLESSING THE CHILDREN
Meet Biniam Chekel
After five years of study, Biniam graduated from Gambella University during the summer of 2022 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Biniam’s journey to become a civil engineer was not as easy one. The twenty-two-year-old lost both his parents at a young age. However, blessed with a large number of siblings, an older sister and a cousin agreed to serve as his guardians during different stages of his life. Biniam looks forward to a career in his field and pursuing his interest in electrical maintenance.

Meet Esrael Yirga
Excelling in her studies at BCI, Esrael has been part of the BCI family for many years as a sponsored orphan. She recently graduated from the University with a degree as a lab technician. After graduation, she took an intensive written exam to apply for medical school and passed! In April 2022, she was accepted to attend medical school in the capital city of Addis Ababa. It will be a five-year journey with a one-year internship before she completes all the requirements to become a medical doctor, but we know Esrael is up to the task.
Meet Isaac Zewge
Isaac, a BCI alum, now works for Blessing the Children as our resident architect, having graduated with a degree in engineering two years ago. He designed the state-of-the-art medical center we are presently constructing on BCI’s Bethlehem campus. He also designed a seven-story orphanage and academy we look forward to launching in the Cherkos District in the nation’s capital of Addis Ababa. We are delighted when our students choose to return to BCI to help us bring up (and inspire) our next generation of students.
Meet Menase Alebachew
Menase, along with his brother Efrem, was part of BCI’s orphan sponsorship program for many years. He recently graduated from Rift Valley University with a degree in accounting. He is now gainfully employed by Blessing the Children, serving as our Campus Store Manager. In this position, Menase is responsible for inventory, in-kind donations, and distribution of goods throughout BCI's two academies. We’re glad that Menase decided to rejoin the BCI family.

Meet Hanos Beta
Henos, another BCI alum, just graduated in 2022 with a degree in biology, and looks forward to putting his degree to good use in the workforce. Frequently, Henos returns to the BCI campus, where he grew up with us, to volunteer his services. We are grateful that he remembers us so fondly.

Meet Natnael Mesele & Geleta Birhanu
Natnael, age 20, became an orphan at an early age. At eight years of age, having no other siblings, Natnael’s grandmother took him in and raised him with the help of Blessing the Children. He was just accepted at Debark University and is thrilled to earn an advanced degree in his chosen field. Geleta, age 17, became a sponsored BCI orphan at the age of six, when he lost his father in a car accident. To make ends meet, Geleta, his mother, and two sisters live with an uncle and a cousin. Geleta recently received the good news that he was accepted at Woldiya University to earn an advance degree in his chosen field.
